Cast Out at the Star-Betrothal Plot

Six years ago, Lyra Aurelian voluntarily renounced her position as the empire's first heir to the throne, handed the crown to her younger brother, Cassian, and disappeared from public life.

Now widowed and pregnant, Lyra returns to the imperial capital for one reason alone: to attend her brother's engagement ceremony.

But a secretly recorded video, deliberately taken out of context, leads Cassian's fiancée, Seraphine, to mistake Lyra for the emperor's secret mistress.

Despite Lyra repeatedly explaining that she is the emperor's biological elder sister—and even offering to have her royal identity verified—Seraphine, consumed by jealousy, refuses to investigate the truth.

Instead, she joins forces with her family to publicly humiliate and brutally torment Lyra at the engagement banquet. Their cruelty ultimately causes Lyra to lose her unborn child.

Only when Cassian finally arrives does the shocking truth come to light.

The woman everyone has been treating as a lowly mistress is none other than the legendary Architect—the former imperial heir who willingly surrendered her throne and rebuilt the entire empire.

Realizing the terrible injustice inflicted upon his sister, Cassian joins Lyra in holding everyone responsible accountable.

What began as an absurd attempt to expose the emperor's supposed mistress soon spirals into a devastating reckoning, ultimately bringing about the downfall of the entire Thorne family.
