Counting Pennies,Losing Daughters Plot

On Christmas Eve, Helena collapses from malnutrition and ends up in the hospital, but her parents refuse to pay her $1,500 medical bill. Meanwhile, they spend $2,900 per ticket on a concert for her spoiled younger sister, who gets over $10,000 in allowance every month.
After years of neglect and humiliation, Helena finally realizes: her parents aren't incapable of love—they simply don't love her.
She terminates their family contract and leaves, choosing the Cooper couple, who truly love her. With their support, she gets into graduate school and builds a successful career.
Meanwhile, her spoiled sister spirals into crime and eventually kills their parents.
Years later, her broken parents come begging for forgiveness.
But Helena refuses.
She finally learns that family isn't defined by blood, but by love.
