In Her Name

In Her Name Plot

My daughter and I are crossing the road at a crosswalk when a speeding luxury car comes barreling toward us. In just a second, my daughter is lying in a pool of blood. When the driver's door opens, everyone sees that the person getting out is a boy who isn't even old enough to have a driver's license.By the time the woman walks over to us, my daughter is unconscious. I'm crying as I call for an ambulance, my whole body trembling. The woman simply pinches her nose, looking at us with undisguised contempt and disdain. She pulls out a black card and slaps it across my face.“People like you will do anything for money. Name your price. I'll buy your daughter's life.”The moment I see the familiar, distinctive pattern on the card, my face goes pale. It's the secondary card I gave my husband.A month ago, Anthony said he wanted to buy a luxury car. I agreed. The model was exactly the same as the one that hit my daughter.A bitter taste rises in my throat, but I swallow it down.I turn to his mistress again, my eyes burning with hatred."Do you think money can buy a life? Fine. Then tell me, how much is your son's life worth? I'll buy it."
